International Chamber Music Alaska is wrapping its 2026 season with a free concert Saturday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. at the Morris Thompson Cultural and Visitors Center. Admission is free, and donations are welcome.
Organizers Charly Akert and Yue Sun told the News-Miner this was their most exciting year yet, with more participants, more performance chances, and students who grew a lot by making music together. ICMA runs in August and aims to build a passion for chamber music right here in Interior Alaska.
During intermission they will raffle a tile by local artist Nancy Johnson, with proceeds going back to the program. Raffle tickets are at the door for cash, check, or QR code.
Our take: a free Saturday night concert downtown is a gift in a town where nights are getting longer. If you spent Friendship Day at Alaskaland earlier that afternoon, this is a calm finish a few blocks away. Bring a friend, drop a donation if you can, and enjoy some quiet music before winter really settles in.
